Cure the #1 Genetic Killer of Infants by Loving Your Genes

I realize it’s counterintuitive to “love your genes” when those very genes are considered to be a defect. They gave you a disease like SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy) that causes you to struggle to live a normal life.

If you step back, (if you can’t step back, roll back- a little wheelchair humor, sorry had to), where would you be without those genes playing the role that they did? You would be a completely different person— maybe better, maybe worse. Instead of thinking what could have been, I choose to embrace SMA because without SMA I wouldn’t be Alex or more importantly, WheelchairRapunzel.

Instead of dwelling on what could have been, let’s help make change for the future. Because of a new miracle drug called Spinraza, the history and face SMA is changing in front of my eyes, and it’s beautiful. These little SMA-ers have a very bright future ahead of them because of all the research and money that has been put into finding a cure for SMA.This month is #SMAAwarenessMonth & I need your help to continue to be able to witness my disease evolving from weakness to strength & hope.

For the month of August I’ll be donating a portion of every LYG order placed to CureSMA, which is an organization that provides resources to families effected by SMA. They also play a very large part in spearheading new SMA research.
